Dropbox Mobile App Redesign

From the initial prototype to final launch, I led the Dropbox mobile app redesign through several product cycles.

What's the Problem?

For years, Dropbox mobile users had been struggling with an outdated interface that didn't align with modern mobile experiences. Navigating files, sharing content, and accessing offline documents were unnecessarily complicated. Through research, I discovered that these weren't isolated issues, but pain points that affected a significant portion of our user base.

The Research Phase

I started by conducting user interviews with 50+ Dropbox users across different demographics to understand their pain points:

  • 87% of users reported difficulty finding recently accessed files
  • 65% struggled with sharing permissions on mobile devices
  • 92% wished they had better offline access capabilities
